Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball Lacrosse team would claim two MASCAC weekly honors this week as the Blue and Gold would take home both offensive and defensive player of the week honors. Sophomore Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) would claim the offensive honors whiles senior Sarah Melanson (Wakefield, MA) would be selected for the defensive honors.
Witkowski collected five goals and two assists for seven points with a groundball and caused turnover in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. Finished with four goals and two assists, including the game-winning tally with two seconds remaining in the game in the 13-12 win over Bridgewater State. Added a goal in the 13-8 setback to Johnson and Wales.
Melanson finished with seven groundballs and five caused turnovers in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. Had four caused turnovers and three groundballs plus an assist in the 13-12 win over Bridgewater.
Lacrosse returns to action on Thursday April 4th when they travel to Western New England for a 4pm start.
