  • 150 Student-Athletes Named to MASCAC Winter/Spring MASCAC All-Academic Team

    Westfield, MA — A total of 906 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s 2023 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.
  • Sorenti-Burns and Glassburn Named to MASCAC All-Conference

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team had two named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team. Seniors Cole Glassburn (Hopkinton, MA), named as a starting pitcher, and Alex Sorenti-Burns (Sagamore Beach, MA), as designated hitter, were selected by the league coaches.
  • Baseball Falls to Mass Maritime in Opening Round of MASCAC Tournament

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers traveled to MASCAC tournament hosts Framingham State today to face off in the first round of the MASCAC tournament versus Mass Maritime. This was the fourth time the teams have faced each other in the past week as they closed out the regular season taking two of three from the Buccaneers.

    Worcester, MA - Today the Lancers (15-21, 9-10) faced off against the Mass Maritime Buccaneers (20-16, 10-9) in a MASCAC doubleheader matchup in what will be the last game of the regular season for Worcester. Today is also Senior Day for the team, with eight seniors and one graduating student.

    Worcester, MA- Coming off a tight game against Bridgewater State yesterday afternoon, the Lancers were looking to claim two from the MASCAC leading Bears. The duo of games that were moved up to avoid the incoming storms on the weekend looked to create quite the battle in the second to last weekend of MASCAC action.
  • Lancers Drop One to Bear, Look to Claim Series Victory Tomorrow

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers headed down to Bridgewater State University for some Thursday afternoon baseball earlier today. The first of a three-game series, Worcester State looked to get off to a good start against a Bears team that sits atop the MASCAC standings with less than two weeks to go in the regular season. 
  • A BLOOP AND A BLAST: LANCERS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH FITCHBURG

    Worcester, MA- Coming off a big road double-header sweep of Framingham State this past Saturday, the Lancer baseball team hit the road once again this afternoon to take on fellow MASCAC rivals the Fitchburg State Falcons for a pair of conference games. The rare, mid-week twin billing brought two drastically different ball games to fans in Fitchburg.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (12-16) traveled to Bowditch Field to take on the (19-10) Framingham St. Rams after taking a hard fought 3-2 loss against the Rams the previous day. 
  • Lancers Drop One Late to Rams

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team was back in action on a perfect Friday afternoon as they look to grab the second win of the week after a walk off win on Wednesday over the Anna Maria AMCATs. The Lancers would start their MASCAC weekend showdown hosting Framingham State, currently 8-3 in the conference, in what could be a deciding series for postseason placement. 
  • Sorenti-Burns Walk Off Single Brings Lancers Victory in the Bottom of the Ninth to Defeat AMCATs

    Worcester, MA- Going into today’s game the Lancers’ record  sat at 11-15. This out-of-conference game would have no impact on their seeding in the MASCAC, but a good performance, after a hard loss against Fitchburg yesterday, could only put the team back on a winning path. 
  • Lancers Lose Tough One In Extra Innings

    Worcester, MA -The Lancers (11-14, 6-3) took on the Fitchburg State Falcons (12-12, 3-6) at Kevin D. Lyons Baseball Diamond in a MASCAC matchup. 
  • Worcester State Baseball Sweeps Owls in Rain Delayed Double Header Battle

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball was looking to put some wins back in their column after a rough start to the weekend series versus Westfield State. The Lancers would power through the 14 innings and a two-hour rain delay to come home with the victories and move to 6-3 in the MASCAC.
  • Pitching, Pitching and... Pitching!

    Division III, New England baseball and softball usually come down to one thing. Pitching. While offense may win games, pitching and defense most definitely wins championships. Lancers baseball and softball headed into the 2023 season with some key pieces returning from prior years. Now, as both squads find themselves about half way through their 40-game campaign, a look into the pitching performances of the Lancers may just tell us how baseball and softball may do down the homestretch.
  • Lancer Lose Offensive Slug Fest to Bison
    April 12, 2023
    Worcester, MA- The Lancers had their three-game win streak snapped this afternoon by the visiting Nichols College Bison. It was quite the slugfest with 27 combined hits, 18 combined runs and a pair of home runs. When all was said and done Nichols walked away with an 11-7 victory.
  • Lancers Flip the Script versus Clark, Win in Bottom Ninth Walk-Off

    Worcester, MA- After an intense double-header on Saturday that garnered two wins for the Lancers, the boys were back in action on Monday afternoon as they played host to the Clark University Cougars this afternoon, in a game with plenty of drama heading in. Just over two weeks ago, Worcester State lost a heartbreaker to the Cougars in a late-inning collapse that culminated in a Clark walk-off. With a chip on their shoulder, the Lancers returned the favor taking a back-and-forth battle in walk-off fashion. 
  • Lancers Take to the Road and Take Two from MCLA

    Worcester, MA- After dropping the series opener at home yesterday to MCLA, Worcester State went on the road for today’s twin-billing. The trip was well worth the drive out to North Adams, Mass. as the Lancers got back into the win column with a pair of seven-inning victories. Not only did their record improve, but Worcester State’s lineup and pitching staff finished the day with plenty of confidence.
  • One Big Inning Not Enough for Lancers to Topple MCLA

    Worcester, MA- The Lancer baseball team looked to continue their early conference success at home this afternoon against the MCLA Trailblazers, but a nail biter would end in defeat. After picking up two of three last weekend against Salem State, the Lancers dropped their first MASCAC game of the weekend by a score of 5-4. 
  • Lancers Move to 2-1 in the MASCAC after Split with Salem State

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team returned to action this afternoon to take on the Salem State Vikings in two 7-inning battles to remain undefeated in the MASCAC. The games were initially scheduled as Worcester State home games for yesterday, but the weather shifted the location, but Worcester State remained the home team for both battles in the afternoon. 
  • SMITH GIVES LANCERS FIRST MASCAC WIN OF THE SEASON

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers (4-10) took on the Salem State Vikings (2-11) for the first MASCAC conference game and their first home game of the season.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team returned to action this afternoon after dropping a nail biter to cross-town rivals Clark University yesterday afternoon. The Lancers are on their fourth game in seven days since their return from Spring Break and looking to grab a win against the host Colonels.
  • Lancers Drop Duel with Cougars

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers were trying to get back on track today from a slow start post Spring Break as they faced off against cross town rivals Clark University in a 9 inning game. While the Lancers started strong, they could not hold on as Clark came back in the bottom of the ninth for a cliniching run for the victory.

    Worcester, MA- The Lancer baseball team lost a heartbreaker this afternoon to Worcester Polytechnic Institute at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts. Though the final score would favor WPI by a score of 12-11, Worcester State came all the way back from a 10-3 deficit that made the mid-March battle all the more compelling.

    Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Worcester State, coming off a tough loss to Eastern Connecticut State the night before, took the field against the Warriors once more in their final pre-season game, looking to bounce back and finish strong with the regular season on the horizon. 
  • Lancers Battle it out in Tough Finishes on the Day

    Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Baseball team was back in action on St. Patrick’s Day night in two 9-innning battles. First up on their slate was a delayed match between SUNY-Plattsburgh, who they were meant to play earlier in the week before the rain forced a cancellation of that double header. The Lancers came away with… The second game on the night was a big one for Worcester as they matched up in the first of two games over Spring Break with 2022 National Champions Eastern Connecticut State.
  • Lancers baseball Grab Win over New England College

    Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Baseball team was back in action today taking on New England College in a 7-inning double header battle. The Lancers took game one in quick fashion, securing the 6-2 victory before dropping the second in the final half inning of action 8-7.
  • Worcester State Comes Away with a Win over Keene State
    March 15, 2023
    Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Baseball team was back in action today after a two break down in Myrtle Beach looking to get back to their winning ways. The Lancers first foe back to actions was Keene State College in a double header on Wednesday night. The Lancers would come away from the day with a split with the Owls, grabbing game one 11-1 and dropping the second in a pitching battle, 3-0.
  • Lancers Drop Late Night Battle to McDaniel College
    March 12, 2023
    North Myrtle Beach, SC- Weather has made the Worcester State Baseball team’s schedule a bit of a roller coaster in the opening days of their Spring Break games at the Cal Ripken Training Center, forcing a number of late night starts. Those late nights caught up with the Lancers as they squared off with McDaniel in a pushed back game initially scheduled for 6:30pm that was moved to 8pm.
