    SALEM, Mass. -- Derek Makimaa (Swartz, Creek, MI) netted a hat trick as the Vikings of Salem State clinched the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season championship with a 9-3 victory over the Lancers of Worcester State Tuesday night at Rockett Arena. With the win, the Vikings clinch the number one seed in the upcoming MASCAC playoffs, and improve to 20-5 on the year. The Lancers finish their season with a 6-18-1 record and 3-14-1 mark in the MASCAC.

With the loss, the Lancers drop to 2-7-1 (0-4-1 MASCAC) and the Panthers improve to 7-1-0, maintaining a perfect 5-0-0 MASCAC record thus far this season.

The Lancers record moves to 1-1-1 (0-0-1 MASCAC), while the Corsairs begin their season with a 0-0-1 (0-0-1 MASCAC) record.

  • Men’s Ice Hockey Opens up the 2015-16 Season at ICFCU Shootout

    FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Worcester State University Men’s Ice Hockey team opened up play this weekend with the ICFCU Shootout hosted by Fitchburg State University. Worcester State split on the shootout, dropping their first game against Wentworth 6-0 on Friday, and then coming back and taking the 4-0 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday.
