Attleboro Sun Chronicle - "WSU's George of Attleboro Earns NEIBA Honors"

Babson Park, MA --- Senior Zach George (Attleboro, MA) has been selected to the Third-team utility spot on the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England team in a vote by the regions head coaches. George was also the Third-team utility representative on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Third-team.

Starting 42 out of a possible 43 games as the squad's lead-off hitter, George swatted .382 with a MASCAC-best 44 runs scored to go with 12 two-baggers, three triples, one home run and 22 RBIs. He was second in the league in batting, third in stolen bases (18), fourth in both doubles and on base percentage (.455) while he was seventh in slugging (.520).

Defensively, George played nearly every position on the diamond with double-digit starts at first, in the outfield and at designated hitter as he also played 11 combined games shagging balls at second and third base. Overall, George committed just five errors in 100 possible chances and he had one outfield assist.

Among single-season leaders, George tied for the seventh-most runs scored and he tied for eighth with a remarkable 58 base-knocks on the year. His 108 career singles also equaled the same mark that all-region honoree Bobby Montalto put up from 2003-06.

The All-New England accolade for George is the second in his career as he was garnered with Third-team laurels for his stellar play in the outfield as a sophomore. Worcester State has had 28 All-NEIBA Players since 1996.

Under the direction of 20th year head coach Dr. Dirk Baker, the Lancers went 27-16 and claimed a share of their eighth MASCAC Regular Season title.
