Lancers Cap-Off Perfect MASCAC Regular Season with Win over Rams

Worcester, MA- 2023 has been all Lancers when it comes to Men's Basketball. Today's regular-season finale would prove no different, as Worcester State capped off their perfect MASCAC season with a road-win against the Framingham State University Rams.

Though there may have been reason to worry at the end of the first half with the Rams leading 31-28, WSU came out of the break firing on all cylinders, immediately taking a lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. A final score of 67-52 cemented the 12-0 conference season.

The Lancers benefitted from 17 points off the bench including a pair of threes from junior Suubi Nkugwa (Chelmsford, Mass.), and some fantastic performances from their bigs. Junior Ryan Rubenskas (Bridgewater, Mass.) supplied 13 points and nine rebounds, while graduate student Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.) capped off his historic season with yet another double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds).

Worcester State will look to ride the high of an undefeated run into next week's conference tournament. Their first-place seeding will give them a bye, meaning their next game will not be until Thursday night at 6 p.m. No matter who they play, Worcester State will be more than happy to take the home-court advantage. At Brissett Court, the Lancers are an outstanding 9-3 on the season, and have not dropped a home game since December.

On a final note for the regular season, head coach Tyler Hundley led the Lancers to the first 20-win season in program history. The five losses are the least for a WSU squad since the 1950s.
