After coming away earlier this season with a 2-0 victory on the road, Worcester is set to repeat and grab a crucial win on the season.
Final
Worcester State: 2
Framingham State: 3
How it Happened:
The evening started off with the Lancers being aggressive, spending most of the first quarter in Framingham State's defensive zone. Despite Worcester having the ball on the Rams end of the field, the Framingham defense played stout defense and only allowed Worcester to put up one shot, as the rest of the attempts were blocked away with limited danger. Despite the offensive efforts from both sides both left the quarter 0-0.
In the second quarter Worcester retained the same intensity from the first, this time with even more dominance. They were able to put up four strong shots in the second quarter and once again played most of the quarter in their zone. However the Rams goalie would not budge leaving the second quarter scoreless for the Lancers. The Rams however were able to come down on a fast break leaving senior Madison Ferrara (Somerset, MA) one on one with a shooter who was able to tap it in to notch the first goal of the night.
The third quarter was played at a steady pace as both teams ran up and down the field trying to notch a goal. However, stout defense on both ends only allowed for one shot to be put up the whole third quarter. The lone shot coming from the Rams, Ferrara was not able to block the attempt on the corner, where a direct shot found the Rams forward sitting on the circle for a perfect receive and release to put the Rams up 2-0 heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter started hot for the Rams as they came out and scored another goal just minutes into the quarter of a perfect redirected shot, putting Framingham State up 3-0. When all hope was on its last life the Blue and Gold came up with a huge goal in the middle of the fourth to give them some life, this was scored by junior Charlotte Macgregor (Bellingham, MA) off a corner hit from senior Natalya Morin (Barre, MA). Immediately following this first year Rihanna Morin (Burrillville, RI) was able to fly down and work her way around and off defensive pressure and score another goal giving the Lancers life as they were within striking distance with the score now being 3-2. However, with just minutes left in the game the Rams were able to pull the win out as they possessed the ball and worked the clock down to 0.
