Lancers End Stellar 2021 Season at D3 New Englands

BOSTON, Mass. – The Worcester State cross country teams finished a fantastic season on Saturday afternoon when they raced at the Division III New England Championships at Franklin Park.

The men's team, fresh off of their first ever MASCAC championship, placed 13th in a field of 33 teams. The women's team ran four student-athletes, but did not qualify for a team score.

Junior Andrew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.) took 37th place in a very deep field of more than 230 student-athletes. Fottler ran the 8K course in 27:12 to pace the Lancers.

Also scoring in the top-75 were junior Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.) and junior Wayne Carey (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Carleton scored 46 points with a time of 27:33, and Carey finished in 28:08 to take 62nd place.

The Lancers got contributions from junior Ethan Goodreau (Spencer, Mass.), running in 30:48 for 154th, and sophomore Elias Boone (Littleton, Mass.), who placed as Worcester State's fifth scorer with a 31:29 finish. Robert Doig (Ashby, Mass.) and Sam Magee (Salem, Mass.) also ran for the Lancers.

On the women's side, Kasey Clark (Dudley, Mass.) was the top finisher, with a 78th place finish of 218 student-athletes. Clark finished her run in 25:53, while fellow junior Erica Hanlon (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was in the top-100 as well, taking 96th position with a 26:37 finish

Caitlin Conneely (Tewksbury, Mass.) was just outside of the top-100, as she ran the course in 26:48, while Cassidy Lefferts (Palmer, Mass.) completed it in 28:47.
