The Worcester State Lancers traveled to Framingham Friday night to face off in their fifth MASCAC matchup of the season.
The Lancers dominated from the beginning with senior Haley Mignon (Tewksbury, MA) scoring an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. The Rams retaliated just 20 seconds later when Hailey Baker sent the ball to Cathryn Cooney who took a quick shot that just got around the Worcester State defense. Worcester kept possession for most of the first half, creating great passing plays but Framingham was able to maintain the tie score into the halftime break.
The Lancers continued their dominant control of the match in the second half. Senior Emma Koopman (Shrewsbury, MA) ran down the field to send a cross into the box that would be tapped in by first year Erin Condon (East Bridgewater, MA) to put the Lancers up 2-1. Shortly after another cross was sent in by senior Hailey Skowronski (Douglas, MA) to sophomore Raelyn Callahan (Pepperell, MA), who had a perfect touch drilling the ball behind the keeper. The Rams, Grayson Tellier, was able to shoot the ball into the top corner behind first year keeper Mallory Dupuis (Leominster, MA) from the outside to put the score to 3-2. But just 30 seconds later Mignon responded again with a fourth goal from the Lancers off a cross from senior Hailey Samara (Worcester, MA). The score would remain 4-2 for the rest of the game, with Worcester outshooting Framingham 36-7.
The Lancers (4-9-1, 3-3) will host their senior might this Wednesday against UMass-Dartmouth on John F. Coughlin Field at 7 pm in their second to last game of the regular season.
