Worcester, MA- In the inaugural MASCAC Field Hockey Championship, the Worcester State Lancers claimed a 2-0 victory over Framingham State. Named the Championship MVP was first year Maddie Parker (Leominster, MA) after an incredible defensive save would keep the score at 0-0 in the third quarter. Parker, in recognition of her defensive prowess was named this week’s MASCAC Defensive and Rookie of the week alongside junior Natalya Morin (Barre, MA) who knocked in both game winning goals in the Lancers two post season competitions.
Parker recorded a defensive save in the game, to go along with her two games of stellar defense in the post season that helped lead Worcester State to an NCAA berth. Morin recorded the two game winners, the first Friday, in the 4-1 win over Salem State, and in the 2-0 Championship victory.
Worcester State will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Williams College in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at 6pm.
