In the opening period of play, the Lancers took the 1-0 lead 6:43 into stanza as Roberts redirected a shot of the stick of sophomore Vinny Bohn (Spring Hill, FL) for his second tally of the season.

The Lancers upped their lead to 3-0 by notching back-to-back scores, senior Tim Bowman (Moor Park, CA) fired a wrist shot inside the near post at the 11:20 mark for his second marker of the year before sophomore Nathan Stanley (Meriden, ID) struck for his sixth goal of the year less than two minutes later.

In the second frame, Fitchburg State broke its scoring silence just 2:37 into the frame as freshman Ryan Bedard (Derby Line, VT) tallied his fifth score of the season for the hosts.

Worcester State regained the three goal margin (4-1) when sophomore Stephen Rock (Tulsa, OK) out raced the defense and slipped the puck into the net for his fourth score of the year, using a feed from junior Derek Serbon (Crown Point, IN) heading into the final period of play.

In the final stanza, the Lancers secured their fifth victory of the season as Roberts connected on his second marker of the game just 1:31 into the period before Serbon capped Worcester State's scoring midway into the frame for the 6-1 lead.
