Worcester State Ice Hockey Falls 4-1 to Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's ice hockey team picked up their first conference win in a 4-1 victory over Worcester State Thursday evening at Loring Arena. With the win, the Rams move to 2-1 (1-1 MASCAC) and the Lancers slip to 2-2-1 (0-1-1 MASCAC).

 

After skating to a scoreless first period the Rams scored a power-play goal just thirty-nine seconds into the 2nd frame. Tyler Colacchio (Bellingham, Mass.) found the back of the net with assists coming from Jake McKinnon (Framingham, Mass.) & Keith Barnaby (Leominster, Mass.).

 

The Rams went into the second intermission up two scores after Greg Stoya (Lake George, N.Y.) sent a one-time shot home from Chris Andre (New Bedford, Mass.).

 

The hosts extended their lead to three scores in the fifth minute of the 3rd frame when Colacchio scored his second of the night with Hayden Lyle (North Kingstwon, R.I.) and Barnaby assisting.

 

The Lancers got on the board with a power-play goal at the 12:44 mark in the 3rd period when Mitchell Purdie (Cavan, OH) broke up the Rams shutout with an assist be credited to Marcus Mazur (Beverly Hills, MI).

 

The Rams scored their 4th goal on the power-play with 1:41 to go in the game when Cam Coburn (Fresno, Calif.) found the back of the net with Peter Mingus (Gillette, WY) & Ricky O'Connor (North Andover, Mass.) assisting.

 

Freshman Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia, PA) made 22 saves earning the victory in his first collegiate start. His counterpart Max Kirkwood (Brunswick, OH) turned away 35 shots in the loss for Worcester State.

 

The Rams return to the ice for non-conference action at Daniel Webster on Saturday, Nov. 14th at 7:30 p.m. The Lancers host Fitchburg State in MASCAC action on the same day at 7:00 p.m.
