FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Worcester State men's ice hockey team snapped their losing streak and defeated the Framingham State Rams 4-1 in MASCAC action Saturday evening. With the win the Lancers improve to 5-14-1 (2-11-1 MASCAC) and the Rams fall to 4-15-1 (3-10-1 MASCAC).

After playing a scoreless first period the Lancers got on the board just under five minutes into the second frame when senior Joe White (Wonder Lake, IL) scored the game's first goal. The visitors followed that up later in the second period when junior Alex DeWitz (Oronco, MN) found the back of the net with just over two minutes to play in the frame.

The Rams cut into the lead with a power-play goal in the first minute of the third period. Sophomore Tyler Colacchio (Bellingham, Mass.) found the back of the net with assists coming from Vaughn Guetens (Chesire, CT) & Mark Essery (Rockfall, CT).

Worcester State answered just a couple minutes later when White scored his second of the game with an assist coming from Patrick Germain (Auburn, Mass.). Senior Nicholas Drill scored an empty netter in the final minutes to reach to final margin.

Both squads were fairly ineffective on special teams. The Lancers were 0-for-5 on the power-play and the Rams converted on one of their seven opportunities.

Freshman Max Kirkwood (Brunswick, OH) made 21 saves in the win for the Lancers while freshman Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia, PA) turned away 30 Worcester State shots in the loss for the Rams.

The Rams return to the ice on Tuesday, February 9th when they host SNHU at 7:40 p.m. The Lancers will host Fitchburg State on Thursday, February 11th.
