Worcester, MA- 2022 MASCAC Tournament Champion Worcester State was selected by the coaches from around the league to win the 2023 MASCAC Men’s Soccer title in this year’s preseason poll. Worcester State defeated Bridgewater State in penalty kicks to advance to the NCAA tournament.
In the top spot in the 2023 poll, the Lancers received three first place votes for 44 points. The team was 4-0-3 in MASCAC action last season, claiming the third seed in the MASCAC tournament. Manny Ramirez returns for Worcester State after registering four goals and seven assists for 11 points. His assists were the second-most in the conference last season and earned him a spot on the All-Conference squad.
Coming in behind Worcester State was Salem State with two first place votes of their own for a total of 42 points followed closely by Framingham State with two first place votes and 40 points combined. Bridgewater State rounds out the top four with a single first place vote and 33 points. Westfield State came away with 25 points, with Fitchburg State and MCLA tying for sixth with 16 points. Mass Maritime closes out the poll in eight with 8 points.
The 2022 MASCAC Championship Worcester State Lancers start their season on September 1st when they play host to WPI at 7pm on John F. Coughlin Field.
