La Crosse, WI --- Sophomore Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) won the second heat of the 110 meter hurdles preliminary round with a school-record time of 14.31 to help lead the Worcester State men's track and field team at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Gibson clocked the third fastest time overall behind junior Adam Scalesse (Longview, WA) of Coast Guard (14.13) and third-year Ryan Lopez –Jordan (Beechwood, OH) of Marrietta (14.29). Gibson figures to draw a preferred middle lane assignment for the finals on Saturday at 4:25 PM EST with his heat victory this evening.

During the outdoor campaign, Scalesse and Gibson have been neck and neck as the hurdler from the Connecticut service academy has gotten the better of Gibson in both postseason match-ups at the Division III New England Championships on May 4 and the Open New England Championships on May 11.

Gibson, however, beat him out in the final race of the 60 meter hurdles this past indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships with the ninth-fastest split in Division III history (8.04) to become Worcester State's first-ever male National Champion as they were 0.06 seconds apart.

Ironically, the only two returning All-Americans from in the 110 hurdles from a year ago are Lopez-Jordan and Scalesse, who were seventh (14.56) and eighth (15.15), respectively.
