Worcester State Softball announces 2024 Schedule

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team, headed up by sixth year Head Coach Keri Bianchini, have announced their 2024 game schedule. The Lancers look to continue their MASCAC dominance and return to post season action this season behind an all-star group or returners and a bevy of newcomers to the program. The team will be led by the experienced prowess of seniors Emily Bartlett, who was the 2022 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and 2023 MASCAC Second Team selection, and Lauren Dube, MASCAC Second Team, along with sophomore Bella Gasbarro, MASCAC First team selection and NFCA All-Region Second Team, and juniors Abigail Koziol, MASCAC First Team, and Emma Lanpher, MASCAC Second Team along with a slew of talented veterans and additions.

"Going into the 2024 season, I am beyond excited to take the field with this specific group of girls! The talent that has been shown during the off-season, the overall team dynamic, and the way we played during our fall games was just a glimpse of the potential for success that we have to look forward to" says Koziol. "The addition of freshmen and transfers that we added to our team, gives me great hope for our team to be named 2024 MASCAC Champions. As we head down south for spring break in March, I hope we start our season off just as strong as we did in our 2023 season spring break trip! Making our mark and sending a message to the rest of the conference is what we are looking to do!"

The Lancers will begin their 2024 campaign with a Spring Break Trip down to Clermont, Florida to participate in The Spring Games 2024, that will see the team take on 12 unique opponents from across the United States from March 16-22nd. Worcester State is scheduled over the week to face off against Hamline, Middlebury, Buffalo State, Clarkson, Ramapo, Wooster, Luther, Wisconsin- Eau Claire, Knox, Keuka, Lawrence, and Bates.

"We are excited to get started this spring after our extended fall season and looking to build off our success from last year" says Coach Bianchini. "This year's team is welcoming a great group of newcomers to our already talented bunch of leaders from last season.  We are also really looking forward to returning to Florida's Spring Games to open our season during spring break."

The Lancers will journey to action back in Massachusetts when they journey to Clark University on March 26th for double header action, before opening both home and conference play on March 29th when they host MCLA for a two-game stand.

The April stretch of games for Blue and Gold sees the Lancers travel to a double header at Gordon on April 2nd before a two date stretch at home versus Rhode Island College for two games on April 4th and a return to MASCAC play when Westfield come to Worcester for their two-game set. Worcester State breaks up their conference home slate with a trip away to Anna Maria on April 8th before a return home for double game fun versus Framingham State on April 13th and a Patriot's Day double header tradition versus Fitchburg State that sees the Falcons journey to Worcester for the April 15th afternoon matchup. Worcester State will then step away from conference action as they host WPI for two on April 17th. The Lancers then will hit the road for their first conference road trip when they play two games versus Bridgewater State on April 20th before a non-conference double header versus Lasell at home on April 24 for the Lancers final home games of the season. The game will also serve as the Lancers senior game, honoring the contributions of the senior class.

The final six games of the 2024 season will see Worcester State on the road with two at Salem State on April 27th before opening May with an out of conference double set with Wellesley College on May 1st. Worcester will close out the regular season on May 4th, when they journey out to Mass Maritime for the final two conference games of the season.

"We're a strong team with a good bond, we've shown a lot of promise the past few seasons and this fall really showed how well the team meshes" states Bartlett. "There's talent in every position and great hitters that can execute many different things effectively. I'm excited to get back on the field and show what we can really do."
