Puumala and Hatton Received ECHA Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey continued their dominance from this past week in the ECHA Awards on Tuesday. Graduate Student Katie Puumala (Framingham, MA) and first year Fiona Hatton (Homer, AK) were each tabbed as players of the week for the conference after dominant performances in leading the Lancers to a 3-0, and 3 key conference victories, on the season. The Lancers claimed two shuts on the week with 7-0 and 6-0 victories over Rivier and MCLA and followed it up with a 6-3 win over the Trailblazers this past Saturday.

Puumala picks up ECHA Player of the Week honors on a seven-point week for the Lancers. She scored two goals and had two assists in a 6-0 victory over MCLA on Friday. She backed the performance with one goal and two assists in Saturday’s 6-3 win over MCLA.

Hatton earned Rookie of the Week honors as she recorded four points on the week. On Wednesday’s victory over Rivier University, Hatton recorded three assists. The first year blueliner backed the multi-point performance with another helper Saturday in a win over MCLA.

 

The Lancers are back in action tonight as they travel to Utica College for a 7pm puck drop in their final game before the Thanksgiving break.
