KEENE, N.H. – The visiting Worcester State Lancers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Keene State Owls Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup at the Owl Athletic Complex.

Keene State preserved their offensive dominance tonight as the Owls outshot the Lancers 28-8 throughout the contest.

The Owls came out blazing, producing multiple goal scoring opportunities before finally getting on the board in the 7th minute after an effort from Sierra Trzepacz. The ball hit the right post and rebounded, from where Julie Pearson found the ball after some bobble in the box and fired a shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Keene State was quick to strike again, as Brittany Tolla dribbled from the Lancers' end line to the top of the box and found the head of Taylor Farland, putting the Owls up 2-0.

Keene State tallied its third goal within the first 10 minutes of the game, when impressive dribbling by Trzepacz produced a pass to Farland, who collected the ball and placed her second goal of the night in the ninth minute.

Worcester State would get one back in the 25th minute, after Cate Farmer (Billerica, Mass.) fed a through ball to Ashleigh Howland (Wilmington, Mass.), who raced to a one-on-one with an approaching Warhall, but was quick to hit the ball into the low, left corner, to shift the score to 3-1.

The Owls found their way early in the second half, as Katie Silegy raced past the Lancers' defenders and knocked the shot into the low, left corner in the 46th minute for their fourth goal of the night (4-1).

25 minutes later, the Owls'  Brittany Tolla capitalized on a pass from Katie Silegy in the 71st minute, placing the shot into the right-side netting, advancing the score to 5-1.

The final tally of the match came less than a minute later, as Howland earned her second goal of the game off a pass from Tsara LeBlanc (Gardner, Mass.). Howland collected LeBlanc's pass within the right side of the box and fired a cross shot into the left-side netting.

The Owls' goalkeeper Danielle Warhall collected one save over the 90 minutes, while the Lancers' goalkeeper Vanessa O'Donnell (Worcester, Mass.) made eight saves and Tori Trifone (Southbridge, Mass.) picked up one.

Next up, Worcester State returns home to take on MCLA, aiming to earn the Lancers' fourth consecutive conference win at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
