Women's Cross Country Finishes As Runners-Up At Tri-States Invitational

Warwick, RI --- Worcester State University took four of the top 10 spots to post a second place finish on Saturday at the Tri-States Invitational. The female harriers were propelled by freshman Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) who placed third with a time of 20:55. The event was hosted by CCRI on their Flanagan Campus course.

The Lancers gained one point on WPI from last week's City Championships as the Engineers placed first with 28 while the Blue and Gold tallied 33 points. Clark added fourth with 76 points as Framingham State recorded 96.

Junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL) notched sixth (21:25), first-year Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) crossed the finish line in eighth (21:33.5) as classmate Ali Barret (Hingham, MA) was right behind in ninth (21:33.6). Sophomore Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) added 11th (21:39) while third-year Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) placed 18th (22:18). Second-year Kristina Richard (Peabody, MA) rounded out the top seven as she timed the 3.1 mile course in 22:34.

The Lancers will take a break until they run at the Emmanuel Saints Invitational on Friday, October 15 at Franklin Park.
