USTFCCCA Release

WORCESTER, Mass. – Four Worcester State University student-athletes have earned NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field All-Region Honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relays teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during the season.

For the men, Worcester State's Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.), John Ojukwu (Stow, Mass.), and Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) earned the honors, while Asgerdur Jana Agustsdottir (Akureyi, Iceland) was tabbed All-Region on the women's side.

Lewis, the 2017 NCAA DIII high jump champion, earned All-Region honors in the high jump. This season, he was ranked not only first on the Division III New England list, but also on the national list with a personal best height of 2.14m (7' 0.25"), which he put forth on Feb. 2 at the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Ojukwu earned the honors in the 60 meter dash with a personal best time of 6.94, which was good for second place in all of New England. He was behind Dominic Nda of UMass Boston who held a time of 6.89.

Vieira was also second in New England in his event of the weight throw. This season, Vieira broke his own weight throw school record with a top throw of 19.15m (62' 10") on Feb. 25 at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier. Vieira was behind UMass Dartmouth's Jared Louf-Woods who earned a top throw of 19.23m (63' 1.25") at the New England Alliance Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Agustsdottir earned All-Region honors in two events: the high jump and pentathlon. On February 16, Agustsdottir marked a Worcester State school record 3,425 in the pentathlon en route to a personal record in the high jump which put her in fourth place in all of New England with a height of 1.69m (5' 6.5"). She was ranked third in New England in the pentathlon, behind two Williams competitors (Summer-Solistce Thomas and Emma Egan).
