Chris Pothier enters his fourth year as the head coach of the Worcester State field hockey team.

During the 2013 campaign, the Lancers went 12-9 overall and captured its first-ever ECAC Division III Tournament win, a 2-1 overtime triumph over Smith, to advance to the semifinals. The Blue and Gold also shattered program marks for goals, assists and points.

Prior to coming to Worcester State, Coach Pothier served as the top assistant at Elms College. He was primarily responsible for assisting with recruiting, day-to-day office tasks and film coordination.

Before taking on his role with the Blazers, Coach Pothier was at Springfield College for one season as a graduate assistant coach. While with the Pride in 2010, he helped guide Springfield to the NEWMAC Tournament Semifinals.

Following his senior year of high school, Coach Pothier played on the USA Men’s National Field Hockey junior team from 2004-05 before he earned a spot on the senior indoor and outdoor teams during their 2005-06 campaign.

In high school, Coach Pothier was a standout player at Sandwich High and a captain in his senior year. In 2001, Pothier helped pace the Blue Knights to the MIAA Division I State Semifinals.

Since 2006, Coach Pothier has served as the director and owner of the Cape Ann Coalition, a Premier Field Hockey Club of New England. He is involved with a wide range of participants from intermediate level to national quality athletes.

Coach Pothier is currently taking classes to achieve his Masters of Education in Physical Education with a concentration in Advanced Coaching from Springfield College. Coach Pothier  earned his Level II Certification from the USFHA in the summer of 2012.
