How it Happened:

Game one action would see Junior Sarah Gosselin (Charlton, MA) on the mound for the Lancers and keep the Blues off the scoreboard in their first at bat. Wellesley would eventually manage to scrape together two runs in the second aided by an error at third base. The fourth inning would see two more runs for the Blues this time off an error from the mound that would result in a change on the mound as first year Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) would come in as relief to close out the inning.

Worcester would tally their first run of the game in the sixth when a junior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA) double we sent across sophomore Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) to cut the score to 4-1.

While the Lancers managed to keep the Blues scoreless for the remainder of the action, they were unable to get the needed runs to complete the victory.

Worcester would open up game two with senior Emily Bartlett on the mound who would shut down the early attempts for Wellesley at scoring while Worcester would get their scoring started early in the action. The Lancers would open up the action in the first inning as sophomore Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) would single to left field sending home Bartlett for the opening run. The Lancers would allow the game to get tied up briefly in the third but would answer back in the top of the fourth.

The three run fourth would kick off with a sophomore Carissa Andrew's (Medford, MA) sacrifice bunt that would this time see Adamuska grabbing a run. Sophomore Bailey Tammaro (Fitchburg, MA) would send out a sacrifice of her own, this time to right field, that would send Junior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA) in for run number three of the game. A junior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) would send a follow up single to right field to send across first year Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) for run three of the inning and pushing the lead to 4-1.

Worcester would add another run to their tally at the top of the sixth as Lapoint sends a double down the left field line bringing Brouillard across for a second run on her day. Worcester would continue to shut out the Blue's in the sixth but the seventh would cause some minor trouble for the Lancers as Wellesley would manage to send across three runs off a homerun, but would then buckle down for the remainder of the Blue's at bat to secure the 5-4 victory for the split in the day.

Bartlet would go for the complete seven innings allowing just six hits and striking out four.
