Softball Falls to Rams in MASCAC Semifinals Matchup

Worcester, MA- After an exciting back and forth battle with Salem State, Worcester State (27-15, 11-3) would come away with the win and set themselves up with a rematch versus Framingham State (21-18, 11-3). The Rams came away yesterday with the victory in the 13 inning battle but Worcester would look to come away with their first win against the Rams on the season to move onto the Championship.

Final

Framingham State: 6

Worcester State: 3

How it Happened:

After wrapping up the Lancers game one of the day senior Emily Bartlett (Lowell, MA) would take over mound duties for Worcester and would keep the game scoreless until the Rams managed to sneak one across in the bottom of the second. Similar to yesterday's battle Worcester would respond in the third as first year Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) would single  to right field and advance to second on a fielding error by the Rams. Junior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) would single up the middle to send Brouillard across to tie the game.

The action would remain stalled until the bottom of the fifth when Framingham would grab another run off a single that snuck up the middle. Worcester would successfully answer in the top of the next inning when Bartlett would double down the left field line to score sophomore Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) where junior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA) singled and forced an error to send Bartlett home for the lead.

Worcester would be unable to maintain the lead as the Rams would answer back with three quick runs to take a 5-3 lead. Before Worcester could grab a third out the Rams would snag another run to end the bottom of the sixth with a 6-3 lead.

Worcester would look to return the run favor in the top of the seventh but would be unable to put together the necessary offense to continue the game, dropping the match 6-3.

Bartlett would go for the full six innings of pitching, recording an additional three strikeouts in the outing.
