Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State College men's basketball team fell to the visiting Salem State College Vikings by the final score of, 74-59, on Senior Day at Lancer Gymnasium.  The win clinched the regular season MASCAC title for the Vikings who now have a record of 19-6 (9-3 MASCAC).  The Lancers fell to 10-15 (3-9 MASCAC).

Salem State raced out to a 15 point first half lead as they shot 44.4% from the filed while the Lancer struggled at 21.6% hitting on just 8-of-37 field goals in the first half.  Salem State was led by senior Marquis Victor (Lawrence, MA) who had 11 points including 3 treys. Junior Dylan Holmes (Groton, MA) went for 10 points in the half.  Junior Stevie Celestin (Somerville, MA) handled all of the intangibles as he had 10 rebounds and 5 assists from his guard position.  Worcester State was led by senior Will Spont (Bellingham, MA) who scored 6 points in the half.

Worcester State was never able to make any inroads in the Viking lead in the second half despite improving their shooting percentage.  For the game Worcester State shot 32.3% from the floor.  On the day, Spont finished with a team-high 12 points while guards Ryan Frassica (Brockton, MA) and Brandon Fortes (Pawtucket, RI) each chipped in with 10 points. Holmes paced Salem State with a game-high 21 points.  Victor ended with 19 on the day.   

Worcester State will travel to Westfield State on Tuesday for a 7pm game.   Salem State will enjoy a first round bye and will play the winner of the Framingham State/Bridgewater first round matchup on Thursday.
