WESTFIELD, Mass. – After his sixth-place finish at this past weekend's James Earley Invitational, Worcester State University men's cross country senior Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Runner of the Week.
The award, announced on Tuesday by the conference office, marks the second time this season that Fottler has been honored as the top cross country athlete in the MASCAC.
At the Earley Invitational at Stanley Park, Fottler took sixth overall in a field of more than 160 racers. He continued his stellar season by running the 8k course in a time of 25:54.96, a personal best for that course.
Behind Fottler's lead, the Lancers took eighth place as a team.
Fottler started the season as the first Runner of the Week in the MASCAC. He earned the award after a fourth-place finish at the Keene State Alumni Invitational on September 4th.
Next up for Fottler and the Lancers is the Suffolk Invitational on Saturday, October 16th in Boston. That will be the last tune-up before the MASCAC Championships at the end of the month.
