Becker 1, Worcester State 0
Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State College softball team scored just one run but it proves to be enough as they defeated the visiting Hawks of Becker College by the final tally of, 1-0, Tuesday evening at Rockwood Field. The win ups the Lancers' record to, 9-21 while Becker falls to 6-16.
Worcester State scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. After Veronica Clark (Worcester, MA) led off with a walk, she was bunted to second and promptly stole third. Sophomore Kara Sztuka (Webster, MA) drove her home with a sacrifice fly to give the Lancers the, 1-0, lead.
The Lancers were actually out hit on the day 4-2. Becker College shortstop Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA) led the limited offense on the day with a pair of hits.
Worcester State sophomore Catherine Costopoulos (Tyngsboro, MA) got her third win of the year going the distance. Danielle Kiertianis (Plainfield, CT) took the loss.
Worcester State will conclude their season on Saturday when they host Framingham State on Saturday. Becker College will travel to Lesley College on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
