JARVIS, CONWAY LEAD LANCERS PAST WELLESLEY

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The attack duo of junior Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA) and senior Clare Conway (Billerica, MA) tallied four goals apiece to lead the Worcester State Lancers to a 12-10 victory over The Blue of Wellesley College in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday night.

Wellesley opened the contest with two consecutive scores from senior Eleanor Mallett. The Blue's junior Liz Sugg added another to put Wellesley in the lead early. Worcester's Jarvis scored the only Lancer goal in the first quarter. Wellesley's senior Zoe Reynolds would score next to close out the quarter with a 4-1 lead for The Blue.  

Wellesley's Izzy Burdick would strike first in the second quarter to put The Blue up by four, but the Lancers found their offense recording the next five straight scores to close out the quarter at a 6-5 Worcester advantage. The markers came from senior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, NH), junior Lily Gendron (Lakeville, MA), Conway and Jarvis added two more scores.

Junior Emily Pavoni (Granby, MA) struck first in the back and forth third quarter to put the Lancer's up by two. Wellesley's Sugg scored again to cut the lead in half just a minute later, but Worcester's Jarvis and Conway each found the back of the net again to preserve the lead. Wellesley's Willa McGough (Plainfield, NH) added the final score of the quarter to wrap it up 9-7, Lancers.  

Blue sophomore Gabrielle Shell (Upper Arlington, OH) scored on a free position attempt to close the gap early in the fourth quarter. Worcester's Conway, assisted by Jarvis would find her mark in the 50th minute of play. The Blue recorded the next two straight on goals from Mallett and Burdick to tie the game at 10-10.

Conway would score her 4th of the night (25th of season) to put the lancers up by one in the final three minutes of play. First-year Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, MA) added some insurance in the final two minutes of play off an Abby Lauzon (Lakeville, MA) assist to close out the game 12-10 in favor of Worcester.

Lancer goalkeeper Sofia Perivolotis (Littleton, MA) registered seven saves on seventeen shots while Wellesley's Lorna Li (Taunton, MA) recorded 18 saves on 30 shots.

Worcester returns to action at Mass. Maritime on Friday, April 8 at 7:00pm, while Wellesley will travel to Clark University on the same evening.
