WORCESTER, Mass. - The Lancers fell to 5-4-2 on the season with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in overtime. Senior forward, Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, Mass.), scored her second goal in as many games to tie the game in the first half, leading the game into overtime.

The scoring started a little over two minutes in when Shannon Summers (Keene, N.H.) collected a loose ball 20 yards out and twisted around to finesse a shot to the bottom left corner of the goal. This gave the Owls the important 1-0 lead.

The Lancers would get on the scoreboard at 23:13 of the first half following a hard foul 25 yards out, form where the blue and gold were awarded a free kick. Macomber lined up to take the free kick and fired a laser shot to the left side of the goal. The ball beat Keene State's keeper, Danielle Warhal (Spofford, N.H.), and bounced straight down off the cross bar and rebounded again into the top of the goal to tie the game at one a piece.

About three minutes into the second half, Worcester State looked as if they were about to take a 2-1 lead after a loose ball ended up at the feet of Kendal Bergenholtz (Grafton, Mass.). Bergenholtz then shot the ball, at which seemed to be a wide open net, but the Owls' defender, Jennifer Wilson (Plymouth, Mass.), ran across the mouth of goal and blocked the shot to keep the game tied up at one.

The score would remain notched at one at the end of regulation, leading into an overtime thriller. Not long into the overtime, the Owls came through with a goal at 91:08. Rebecca Costello (Meriden, Conn.) sent a low hard thru ball to a trailing Morgan Kathan (Ludlow, VT) who received the ball and broke free on a breakaway and side footed the ball into the left side of the goal to seal the victory for Keene State.

Vanessa O'Donnell (Worcester, Mass.) had three saves for the Lancers and records her first loss on the season. Warhal had four saves for the Owls and is now 6-3-2 on the season.

Worcester State took the shot advantage with 11 attempted shots to Keen State's seven attempted shots. Both teams had five shots on target throughout the entirety of the game.

The Lancers continue their chase for the postseason with a MASCAC matchup on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on the road against MCLA.
