Samara and Condon Receive MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- Two Worcester State Women’s Soccer players received player of the week accolades after defeating Salem St in a resounding 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. Senior Haley Samara (Worcester, MA), named Player of the Week, and first year Erin Condon, Rookie of the Week, were honored after each nabbed 4 points in the game.

Samara was a key piece of each goal that Worcester State scored assisting the first two to Condon before grabbing her own goal in the 70’ minute. After the action-packed Saturday, the midfielder now has three goals and three assists for nine points on the season. The current 3-and-3 for the season, and the two assists in a single game, are personal highs for Samara.

Condon scored the game winner and an insurance goal early in the first half to secure the victory for Worcester in the MASCAC matchup. The fellow midfielder now has five goals and three assists on the season, which currently has her sitting in second in both goals and points and tied for first in assists. Condon’s two goals is the most in a single game for the first year and her first game winning goal of her 13 game appearances.

The Lancers end the week 1-0, currently sitting at 3-9-1 (2-3) and play next on Friday, October 21, at Framingham St. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7pm.
