Alina Stanila
Title: Assistant Coach

Alina Stanila enters her second season as an assistant coach at Worcester State. Stanila brings a wealth of experience as a coach, standout collegiate athlete and outstanding player in the Romanian circuit.

Previous to coaching at Worcester State, she spent the last two years in England from 2012-14 at the Tennis Center in Birmingham and from 2010-11 she also served as an instructor at the Weston Cliff Dreysdale Club in Fort Lauderdale.

As a collegian, Coach Stanila enjoyed a tremendous 2010-11 campaign at Ferris State going 22-1 as the top seed (11-0 GLIAC) while also going 20-4 in pairs play. She was tabbed as the GLIAC Player of the week and Player of the year as the Bulldogs  made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament, falling in the Midwest Regional finals. Following the season, Coach Stanila was named the squads MVP and she earned the Inspiration Award.

Before transferring to Ferris State, Coach Stanila played for two seasons at California-Pennsylvania. While with the Vulcans, she helped the team capture back-to-back PSAC Tournament and regular season titles as the 2008 and 2009 PSAC singles champion and the Regional Tournament.  In 2008 Coach Stanila was named the conference Rookie of the Year and in 2009 she was the ITA Regional Singles Champion.    

En-route to boasting a 55-13 record as a top player in solo action and 32-14 in doubles play, she led the Vulcans to the NCAA Division II Tournament Quarterfinals while also earning the seventh seed in the NCAA Division II Singles Tournament.

Prior to coming to the United States she was ranked among the top 1,000 players in the WTA and she was victorious in several national tournaments in Romania.

She is currently an instructor at the Lapides Tennis Academy in the Boston area.
