The Lancers took advantage of four singles in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Junior Nick Caparell (North Attleboro, MA) knocked in the first run and came around to score the second. Caparell finished the game 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two walks.

The Lancers exploded for four runs in the top of the third only to see the game tied once again in the bottom of the fourth when four Chargers crossed the plate on five straight hits. Each team scored once in the fifth inning to keep the game knotted at 8-8. After the Lancers took a 9-8 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from freshman Ben Mullin (Burlington, MA), the Chargers responded with two runs in the home half to take a one-run lead.

Worcester State jumped on top of Colby-Sawyer again in the seventh scoring three times including a two-RBI double from junior Will Thompson (New Church, VA). The Chargers fought back for the fifth time in the bottom of the eighth and tied the score at 12-12.

The Lancers applied pressure in the top of the ninth with a lead off double from Caparell. After a single from junior Nick Dortona (Malden, MA) put runners on the corners, junior TJ Magnell (Leominster, MA) supplied a pinch-hit sacrifice fly. Sophomore Corey Abbascia (Shrewsbury, MA) put the Lancers up by two runs with an RBI double to left center.

After Colby-Sawyer cut the deficit to one, the Lancers came up with two great defensive plays. Freshman Justin Martin (Lebanon, NH), who left third base on contact, was thrown out at the plate on a dribbler to the third baseman. Then with the game still in the balance, pinch-hitter Shane Hoagboon (Mayfield, NY) hit a laser to the right side only to see the ball caught by a full extension, game-saving dive by the first baseman Abbascia.

Freshman Kyle St. Thomas (Bridgewater, MA) threw three solid innings of relief surrendering just one earned run en route to his first career victory. Junior Kevin Hayes (Medford, MA) pitched the ninth and earned his third save of the season. Freshman Brendan Harding (Medford, MA) suffered the loss for the Chargers.

Abbascia went 3-for-5 at the dish with two RBI. Freshman Jake Sanderski (Millbury, MA) knocked in a pair and had two hits for the Lancers.

Martin led the Chargers with a 4-for-5 effort and scored two runs. Junior Jarrett Lowe (Sudbury, MA) went 3-for-6 with two RBI, while freshman Ryan Lawless (Charlemont, MA) also went 3-for-6.
