Worcester, MA --- For the fifth time in program history the Worcester State College baseball team will make an appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament as a number two team and receive a first-round bye in the six-team single elimination competition.

The Lancers face the winner of the third-seeded Wentworth and #6 Fitchburg State on Saturday at a time to be determined at WPI. The Engineers, top-seed and host, will take on either #5 Becker or #4 Castleton in the second contest on Saturday. The Leopards and the Falcons will play at Brandies on Wednesday at 4 PM while the Hawks will travel to play the Spartans at a site to be determined.

Worcester State advances to their 10th championship tournament and eighth under 14th year head coach Dirk Baker. The Lancers have been in the ECACs in 2001, 2000, 1998 and 1979. The Blue and Gold lost in the championship game to Springfield, 13-12, in 1999 and to MCLA, 13-10, in 2001.

WSC is currently 29-14 and they also enjoyed a 13-1 record in MASCAC play as they captured their seventh regular season crown. With a 3-2 record in the conference championship tournament this past weekend, the Lancers fell, 4-3, to Westfield State in the MASCAC championship game.
