McDonald Selected Co-MASCAC, Co-ECAC Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA ---Worcester State junior designated hitter Corey McDonald has been named this week’s Co-MASCAC and Co-ECAC Baseball Player of the Week as he helped the Lancers post a 4-0 record this past week.

McDonald, who hails from Hudson, MA, batted .538 (7-for-13) with two homer and nine runs batted in which included three hits and four RBIs in a 12-4 triumph over Brandeis before he capped off the week with a double and a three-run homer in a 6-4 victory over Salem State.

McDonald also has an 18-game hit streak which started on the last game of the squads Florida trip with a 2-for-4 performance in a 4-3 win over Ramapo.

As of Sunday’s conference rankings, McDonald was second in the MASCAC in batting average (.440), doubles (11) and total bases (62) while he is sixth in runs (23) and RBIs (26). McDonald also leads the conference in on base percentage (.529) as he is fourth in slugging (.738).

McDonald transferred to Worcester State this season after two standout years at CCRI.

The Lancers, who are tied for seventh in the latest New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association coaches poll, ride a ten game win streak as they are 22-5-1 overall. The Blue and Gold will face off tomorrow against Rhode Island College at 4 PM at Foley Stadium before they entertain Becker at 4 PM at Tivnan Field (Lake Park). WSC continues MASCAC play against Framingham State at 12 on Saturday at Foley.
