Lancers Move over .500 with Win over Regis

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Basketball team looks to get over .500 for the first time in the 2023-2024 campaign as they hit the road for a Wednesday Night Showdown with the Regis Pride. The Lancers are coming off a win Saturday over Emerson College and look to build off that momentum as they try to win their 4th game out of their last 5.

The Lancers came out of the gate firing as they jumped out to a ten point lead in the opening minutes of the game.The Lancers led by as many as 17 in the first, before Regis fought back and brought the score to 39-28 at the break. The Lancers were led by 2x reigning MASCAC player of the week junior Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MA)  who led all scorers with 16 points at the break for the Lancers. Junior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY) also was a key contributor with 6 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds for the Blue and Gold. 

 

The second half started off in a back and forth shootout as the teams were trading points. The Lancers started to heat up again as their lead ballooned from single digits to the 20s in the second half. Senior Sam Dion (Oxford, MA) and graduate student Zion Hendrix (Charlotte, NC) were key contributors for the Lancers. The Lancers displayed excellent 3 point shooting as they shot 12/22 as a team. Nkrumah finished with a game high 32 points for Worcester State while Goris ended the game with the addition of 10 points.

 

The Lancers return to the court Saturday afternoon as they play host to Lasell College, with a 3pm start. The Lancers now sit at 5-4 on the 2023-2024 season.
