Lancers Bested by Engineers on the Road

Worcester, MA- The Lancers Men's Basketball team (1-0, 0-0) coming in high off their last seconds victory on Friday over Roger Williams aim to make it 2-0 on the season as they take on perennial top contender WPI tonight at 7pm. Last two seasons have seen close matches between the two squads and have been a good early season test for both programs as they both turn their focus to grabbing a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Final

Worcester State: 99

WPI: 55

How it Happened:

In tonight's rivalry matchup between Worcester State and WPI the energy was high and play was technical with Worcester starting out slow and the Engineers jumping out to a quick ten point lead. The Blue and Gold were able to battle back to get back within eight, with the help of senior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY) who had nine points including a 3 pointer to start the game. Junior Ayme Daguilh (West Boylston, MA) also had a great first half with netting eight points as he and Goris combined as the majority point scorers in the first, with Worcester heading into the halftime break down 24-45.

The second half found Worcester unable to gain further traction as the Engineers continued their hot shooting from the first half. Goris finished the night with team high 12 points along with four assists and two steals while Daguilh added to the action with 10 points with two rebounds to end the night as WPI would claim this addition of the Battle of Worcester 99-55.

What's Next:
