Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 Road Setback To Western Connecticut

Danbury, CT --- Western Connecticut State University junior forward Daniel Sanchez (Canaan, CT) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute and the Colonials held on for a 1-0 non-league victory over Worcester State University at The WAC on Wednesday night.

Sanchez collected a loose ball, available when a Lancers defender failed to pass it back to keeper Evan Wilga (Webster, MA). He collected the errant pass and drilled it inside the right post for his second marker of the season.

The Colonials, winners of two in a row and now 3-5-1 on the season, held a 17-7 shot advantage over the visitors.

Freshman goalie Jack Holub (Sherman, CT), this week's Little East Goalie of the Week, made four saves and registered his third shutout of the season. It was his second-straight clean sheet.

Wilga made five saves for Worcester State, which drops to 3-9 on the year.

Worcester State will play Westfield State at home in a rare Friday night MASCAC game at 7 PM while Western Connecticut takes a trip to UMass Boston for a 1 o'clock Saturday LEC contest.
