WORCESTER, Mass.—The Lancers took out their frustration and ended their five game skid with a decisive 7-0 win over the Becker Hawks at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field Tuesday afternoon. The offensive explosion was fueled by freshman Ryan Kinsella (Wilmington, Mass.), junior George Siotis (Oxford, Mass.) and sophomore Andre Ipojuca (Saugus, Mass.) who each had a pair of goals for the blue and gold.

Worcester State opened up the game with total control of play. The ball was continuously in the Hawk's end and Worcester had many chances to score. The Lancers finally broke through at 25:53 with an always dangerous set piece goal, as the Lancers were awarded a corner kick. Freshman Ian Robson (Amherst, Mass.) sent in a high curling corner that met the head of Kinsella who directed it on goal. From where Siotis tapped the ball into the open goal to give the blue and gold the 1-0 lead.

At 40:26 the Lancers would use another corner kick to their advantage. Robson sent in a cross directly to the head of Kinsella who would net his first of two goals with a beautifully directed ball to the top left corner, taking a 2-0 lead into half time.

Becker came out with some fire to start the second half but that was ended quickly with a goal at 54:48 from the blue and gold. After a free kick from Siotis, the ball rebounded off the post and after a moment of the ball being loose in front of the open goal, Kinsella netted his second of the game with a bullet shot to the middle of the goal which gave the Lancers a 3-0 lead.

Worcester State's offensive outburst continues as freshman forward Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass.) fought for the 4th Lancers goal of the game. At 61:21 Brasil fired a shot on net but Becker goalie, Benjamin Cadman (Harvard, Mass.) stoned him on the shot. Brasil then chased his own rebound and with Cadman on the ground, was able to bury his shot into the open goal to give Worcester State a commanding 4-0 lead.

At 64:09 the blue and gold would add to their already commanding lead with a beautiful pass and finish. Junior midfielder, Tyler Church (Florence, Mass.), received a ball at half field and sent a hard through ball to the sprinting Ipojuca down the field. Ipojuca then beat the back line to the ball and from about 20 yards out sent a hard low shot to the bottom left corner to expand the lead to 5-0.

Minutes later at 77:20 the Hawks bad luck would continue with another goal from Worcester State after a fault by the Becker net minder. Matthew Dent (Ludlow, Mass.) went to clear a ball from the Worcester State end, the ball bounced past Cadman who missed the clearing attempt and Siotis would net his second of the game with a shot to the bottom right corner and add to the big lead and make the score 6-0.

The final goal for the blue and gold came at 82:44 from a familiar face. Ipojuca netted his second of the game after a beautiful low cross from freshman Jesse Colman (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Ipojuca directed the hard cross to the left side of the goal and cement the big win for the Lancers.

Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass.) received his first win and shutout of the season with a four save performance. Cadman for Becker fell to 0-10 on the year, recording seven saves on the day.

The Lancers are back in action Saturday October 3rd when the team travels to interstate rivals Fitchburg State University for a 2:00 p.m. conference matchup.
