Jacques Leads Lancers at MASCAC Championship

Worcester, MA- The Lancer Men's Indoor Track and Field team came out ready to put their stamp on their season as they headed to Smith College for the MASCAC Championship hosted by Westfield State. Junior Brodie Jacques (Rehboth, MA) continued his success from last spring's outdoor championship with a sprinting victory to lead the Lancers on the day.

 

Coming in hot on the track was Jacques coming in with speed with his first place crossing in 7.07 seconds in the 60m alongside sophomore Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) who finished in fourth place with a time of 7.11. Boudreau would also go for speed in the 200m with an eight place crossing in a time of 23.69. Jacques would find his additional success on the day alongside Boudreau again in the long jump with a fourth place landing at 6.39m while Boudreau would claim 13th with a mark of 5.63m. First year Nolan Clarke (Mansfield, MA) would join the duo in the pit with a 15th place finish at 5.48m.

 

Rounding out the track events on the day was junior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) who came in 12th with a time of 1:37.62, senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) who put in the time on the track today in the 5,000m, recording a time of 18:28.19. First year Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would claim a fifth place finish in the 1,000m when he recorded a time of 2:55.26 while fellow cross country teammate Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) would finish in 11th in the 5,000m with a time of 18:28.19. 

 

In the throwing circle, senior Jack Houlihan (Rutland, MA) would lead the bunch with a 6th place 14.50m mark in the weight throw. Joining Houlihan in the toss was junior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) in 10th with a toss of 11.95m. He would also come in 16th in the shot put with a distance of 11.14m. Alongside O'Connor, was first year Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) who placed 13th in the shot put with a mark of 11.44m and 15th in the weight throw at a distance of 11.03m. The final two entrants in the weight throw for the Lancers were first year Daniel Butler, who came in 14th with a 11.15m mark and senior Matt Long (East Bridgewater, MA) with a finish of 13th with 11.21m. 

 

In the final track action the men's 4x200m team, made up of first year Pius Baidoo (Worcester, MA), junior Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA), Clarke and and first year Makarios Kitenda (Lowell, MA) would claim 3rd with a time of 1:39.97. In the second relay bunch of the day, first year Jax Christman (Lancaster, MA), sophomore Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA), junior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) and senior Anthony Paolucci (Billerica, MA) would finish in 4th with a time of  4:03.53.

 

The Lancers are back in action next Saturday at the Pre-Post Season Invitational as they look for a chance to secure some more qualifying marks for the NCAA DIII Regionals.
