Lancers Land Top Marks at Pre-Postseason Invite

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Indoor Track and Field team hit the events today, competing in the Pre-Postseason Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. The meet is aimed at competitors attempting one of their final chances at qualifying marks for the regional tournament and NCAA Championships.

 

Worcester State would see success on the day in multiple fronts with junior Brodie Jacques claiming the 2nd place finish in the 60m, just .02 seconds ahead of sophomore Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA), in a time of 7.12. Boudreau would grab a second place finish of his own in the 200m, crossing in 23.57, a season best for Boudreau. Sophomore Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) and junior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) would also compete in the event with Gomez claiming 17th with a 25.93, his own season best, and O'Leary crossing in 26.18.

 

On the field side, the Lancers would find equal success led by Jacques and senior Jack Houlihan (Rutland, MA). Houlihan would finish in fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.29m while Jacques would claim his own fifth place finish in the Long Jump with a measurement of 5.97m. Joining Jacques in the pit was first year Pius Baidoo (Worcester, MA) who claimed eight with a 5.80m landing and fellow first year Nolan Clarke (Mansfield, MA) who would land in 16th with a 5.28m mark.

 

The Blue and Gold return to action next Sunday at the New England D3 Regional NCAA tournament as they strive for final marks for NCAA championship qualification.
