Starksville, MO --- Senior Michaella Mahoney (Shrewsbury, MA) has been named to the First-Team of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England team. The squad was announced on Wednesday, May 11.
Mahoney, the MASCAC Player of the Year, earned a nod to the team as an At-Large. The standout pitcher, designated player and first baseman was instrumental in helping the Lancers tie for the regular season MASCAC title and capture their first-ever conference tournament championship.
As of this past week, Mahoney, led the MASCAC in hitting (.402), runs batted in (38), on base percentage (.531), bases on balls (25), earned run average (1.07), wins (16), shutouts (7) and opposing batting average (.190). She is also second in runs scored (32), third in slugging (.701) and strikeouts (122), fourth in total bases (61) and innings (117.2).
Prior to the beginning of the NCAA Division III Softball tournament, Mahoney was ranked 15th nationally in ERA, 25th in hits allowed per nine innings (4.94), 52nd in strikeouts per seven innings (7.3) and 67th in total punch-outs.
Mahoney was joined on the team by third-baseman Jennifer Shaw (Brockton, MA) who also earned a first-team nod, from Bridgewater State as the only representatives on the 45-player New England team.
