Title: Assistant Coach

Coach Ruffo enters her fifth year as an assistant coach at Worcester State University. Ruffo brings over 14 years of softball coaching experience and running clinics with her to the Lancers.

In each of the last two seasons, Coach Ruffo has helped guide the Lancers to back-to-back regular season titles. In 2011 the Lancers captured their first-ever MASCAC Tournament Championship and to their first NCAA appearance since 1987.

Under the direction of Coach Ruffo in 2010, she helped guide the Lancers to their first winning season since 2002 as they would advance to the ECAC Division III Tournament semifinals.

Coach Ruffo started her coaching career as the head coach of the Worcester Twisters, a U-16 team located in Worcester, and she coached the squad from 1997-2000. In every year she coached, the team qualified for the NSA New England Tournament and in 1999 and 2000 the team won the NSA State Championships. In 2000 the Twisters were the National Runners-up.

While she coached the Twisters, Coach Ruffo had a two year stint as the assistant coach of the varsity squad from 1997-99 at St. Peter-Marian and she also had a one year stop as an assistant at Holy Cross in the 1999-2000 season.

Coach Ruffo assumed duties as the head varsity coach of the softball team at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough from 2000 to 2006. Her teams were garnered in the offseason with the MID WACH A Sportsmanship Award in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 while her 2004 squad was honored with the State Sportsmanship Award.

From 1998 to the present, Coach Ruffo also has experience running or assisting several softball clinics which have included: The Holden Softball League (Director: 1998-2000) and the Home Run Club (Director: 1998-2000), The Northbridge Little League Club (2003), RBI-Riley Baseball Instruction (Instructor: 2004-2007), Central Mass Elite Softball Clinics (Owner/Director: 2005-present), and The Bancroft School Summer Softball Clinics (Director: 2006-present).

Coach Ruffo received her BA in Marketing and Management from Boston College in 1999 and her MBA from Assumption in 2006. Since 2000 she has taught Economics at Algonquin Regional High school.
