Women's Volleyball Bests Mass Maritime, 3-0, On Senior Night

Worcester, MA --- Junior Kristen Koles (Billerica, MA) had a game-best six kills and eight service aces to help lead Worcester State to a 3-0 triumph over Mass Maritime in MASCAC women's volleyball action this evening at the Lancer Gym.

With the win the Lancers improve to 12-14 overall and 4-2 in the conference while the Buccaneers slip to 0-25 overall and 0-5 in league action. WSU won in straight sets, 25-10, 25-4 and 25-9.

Fourth-year Juliana Tyo (Pepperell, MA) and junior Robyn Linscott (Weymouth, MA) both notched five kills apiece and combined for three aces. Senior Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) also dished out 22 assists and added one ace.

Junior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, MA) paced the visitors with a trio of kills and six digs as freshman Kelsey Pelletier (Bristol, CT) added two kills. First-year Deb Langley (Abington, MA) finished her evening with four assists.

Koles, Tyo, Linscott, Grenier, classmate Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) and team manager Danielle Tacey were honored in a brief pre-game ceremony on "Senior Day" for participating in their last home game. Koles and Linscott are juniors athletically, but will be graduating with their teammates in the spring.

The Lancers close out their regular season in a tri-match this weekend at Plymouth State. WSU takes on Rhode Island College at 1:30 before they close out the day with a 3 o'clock matchup against the hosting Panthers.

The Buccaneers entertain Lesley this Thursday at 7 o'clock.
