Women's Cross Country Finishes Second Overall At Worcester City Meet
Paxton, MA --- Highlighted by Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA), four Worcester State women's cross country runners took top 10 spots as the squad placed second overall at the Worcester City Cross Country Championships at Moore State Park. Cartwright would cross the finish line in fourth overall with a time of 21:41.

WPI recorded their sixth meet victory since the annual race started in 1984 as the Crimson and Gray (29) edged out the Lancers by seven points (37). Engineer sophomore Vicky Hewey won the race for the second consecutive season as she clocked 20:18.

Freshman Ali Barret (Hingham, MA) and classmate Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) placed fifth (21:58) and sixth (22:04) while sophomore Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) tallied eighth (22:13). Junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL) added 13 th (22:34) as sophomore Kristina Richard (Peabody, MA), second-year Nicole Boudreau (S. Windsor, CT) and junior Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) each registered 17th (23:02), 18th (23:26) and 19th (23:26), respectively. First-year Christine Shaffer (Atkinson, NH) rounded out the top eight in 22nd as she scaled the 5k course with a time of 23:25.

Next week the Lancer harriers head south to CCRI for the Tri-States Championship.
