
Worcester, MA- After a successful 7-3 week down in Florida, the Worcester State Baseball repeated on their dual MASCAC weekly honors as sophomore Gavin Price (Worcester, MA) and first year Matthew Direnzo (Leicester, MA) claimed pitcher and rookie of the week honors.
Price went 1-0 with a complete game of seven scoreless earned run innings of work, 10 strikeouts, no walks and eight hits in the Lancers' 6-2 win over Hamilton.
Direnzo, in his first collegiate start got the win with a seven inning complete game victory, allowing five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in the Lancers' 2-1 win over Juniata.
Joining the duo with a honorable mention was senior Anthony Iamarone (Providence, RI) who batted .350 (7-20) with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, two walks and five runs scored in a 5-2 week for the Lancers. Went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI in the 8-4 win over Juniata. Had a home run, RBI and run scored in the 6-2 win over Hamilton.
Worcester State is back in action on Friday when they open conference play at home at 3:30 p.m. versus MCLA.
