
Worcester, MA- With a pre–Spring Break win over Wentworth and Split on day one, the Lancers found success on the week as Spring Break started. To cap it off the Lancers had two awarded with this week’s MASCAC weekly honors. Graduate student Ben Smith (Bourne, MA) and first year Riggs Catlin (Dedham, MA) would be named Pitcher and Rookie of the Week.
Smith made two appearances, going 1-0 with six hits, no earned runs, nine strikeouts and three walks over 10 innings. Got the complete game shutout, allowing four hits with five strikeouts in the 6-0 win over Trinity (Conn.)
Catlin batted .375 (3-8) with a home run, five RBI and three runs scored in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. Went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in the 8-5 win over Wentworth. Registered a hit with two RBI in the 6-0 win over Trinity (Conn.).
Worcester State is back in action on Wednesday when they take on Juniata College in a seven inning double header on their Spring Break trip. First pitch is set for 9:45am.
