Davis Named First Team All-Conference After Stellar Rookie Campaign

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore wide receiver Ke'Vaughn Davis (Utica, N.Y.) has been selected to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) First Team All-Conference.

The teams were voted on by the coaches from across the conference and announced by the MASCAC office on Wednesday.

Davis had a breakout sophomore season, making an immediate name for himself in the MASCAC and placing himself into the Worcester State record books.

A multi-time MASCAC Rookie of the Week honoree, Davis led the MASCAC with 13 receiving touchdowns, 70 receptions and 1132 receiving yards. He had four more receiving touchdowns than the next closest player in the conference, was the leader in catches by 14 receptions, and led in receiving yards by 368. He was the only player in the conference to average more than 100 yards per game, helped by the fact that he had six games with over 100 receiving yards.

In his first collegiate game, Davis went for 220 yards and two touchdowns, marking the fourth highest single-game receiving yardage total in Worcester State football history. It was also the first of four multi-touchdown games for Davis, which included a two-score effort against Fitchburg State and three-touchdown days against mass. Maritime and Western Connecticut. His 13 receptions against the Buccaneers is the fifth most in a game for the Lancers, while his season total of 70 receptions trails only the 85 of AJ Scerra (2012) for the most in a season.

Davis's 1,132 receiving yards registers as the third-highest total for a Worcester State player, and the most since 2001, when Jeremy Frisch caught 67 passes for 1,210 yards. His 13 receiving touchdowns ties for the second-best season by a Lancer receiver.
