Loveless Connects With Shabo For TD On Senior Day

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (1-8, 1-6 MASCAC) kicked off against the Framingham St. (4-4, 4-3 MASCAC) in the team's final game of the season. 

 

Today was Senior Day where graduate students Mason Broyles (Millbury, MA), Melke Shabo (Paxton, MA), and Ryan Justin (Fitchburg, MA) were honored along with seniors Dan DiVerdi (Sterling, MA), Mike Loveless (Nashua, NH), Curt Marshall (Taunton, MA), and Deion Osei-Sarpong (Holden, MA) for their dedication and contributions made to the team.

END FIRST HALF: RAMS 27 LANCERS 0

 

Less than two minutes into the game, Framingham St. senior linebacker Jared Martino (Malden, MA) intercepted a pass from Loveless and returned it for a touchdown on a 35-yard return to put the Rams up 7-0 after the extra point from junior Mattew Farley (Middleboro, MA).

 

Rams running back senior Devaun Ford (Mashpee, MA) powered in a three-yard TD to put his team up 14-0 after the successful extra point attempt.    

 

Framingham St. senior safety Chris Buono (Lynn, MA) intercepted a pass from Loveless and returned it 30 yards for a TD to make the score 21-0 after the PAT. 

 

With 11:12 remaining in the second quarter, junior wide receiver Manny Lara (Mashpee, MA) rushed in a nine-yard score, giving the Rams the 27-0 lead after an unsuccessful fake field goal. 

 

SECOND HALF: RAMS 41 LANCERS 6

 

The Lancers opened up the second half with an amazing touchdown snag by graduate student Melke Shabo (Paxton, MA) who hauled in the seven-yard score in the back of the endzone on a pass from quarterback Mike Loveless. The Lancers attempted a drop kick off the foot of Drew Von Klock that went off the post and was no good.

 

Less than a minute remained in the third when Rams junior wide receiver Elihaj Nichols (Burlington Township, NJ) rushed for a 10 yard TD to increase the lead to 34-0 

 

In the fourth quarter, Framingham St. added another score on a one-yard rush by Devaun Ford, his second of the afternoon.

 

With the loss, the Lancers final regular season record stands at (1-9, 1-7 MASCAC), as the Rams record improves to (5-4, 4-4 MASCAC).
