Worcester, MA --- Sophomore teammates Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA) and Kaitlyn Delisle (Taunton, MA) each netted a pair of goals to help propel Worcester State to a 6-1 triumph over Eastern Connecticut in Little East field hockey action this morning.

With the win the Lancers snap an eight-game losing streak and end their 2009 campaign at 4-15 (1-10 LEC) while the Warriors finish their season at 3-16 and 0-11 in the Little East.

Worcester State opened the game with three goals within the first 15 minutes of the game. Delisle started things off at 7:23 with an unassisted marker before Cozzens registered consecutive tallies less than three minutes apart. The second WSC marker was scored at 12:51 and adding the helper on the play was senior Lesley Hill (Raynham, MA) who picked up the first of her two assists in the game.

Hill handed out her second assist at 30:50 as junior Erin Moore (Brimfield, MA) put the Lancers up 4-0 just before the intermission.

As both teams came out onto the field following the break, Eastern Connecticut broke the shutout as junior Ashley Del Vecchio (Fairfield, CT) added her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Warriors remained aggressive on the offensive end, as they finished the second stanza with a 10-9 edge in shots, but sophomore keeper Katherine Masterjohn (Warren, MA) did not allow another marker to cross between the pipes as she stopped all five shots she saw in the period.

Worcester State capped off the game with two goals three minutes apart as Delisle hit home her second of the contest on a feed by senior Veronica Farrell (Baldwinville, MA) and third-year Karla Rotondi (Tewksbury, MA) recorded her first tally of the season at 66:30.

Masterjohn ended the contest with nine saves while sophomore Danielle Reichardt (Ocean Township, NJ) and senior Tia Mucciarone (Franklin, MA) split equal time in the net for Eastern Connecticut as they combined for 11 stops.

Worcester outshot the Warriors 26-13 in the contest and they also held an 8-6 lead in penalty corners. Sophomore Chelsie Rizzo (Bethel, CT) also added a defensive save in the first half for Eastern Connecticut.

Hill and Farrell were each honored on "Senior Day" for playing in their last home game. Hill doubled her career assist total to four with her two helpers in today's game.
