Lancers Unable to Complete Comeback, Fall to Bears

Worcester, MA- After claiming two crucial wins in conference last week, the Blue and Gold Field Hockey team (3-8, 3-2) head to Bridgewater State in their bid to keep their conference success in what will be a crucial meeting for post season seeding for the playoffs.

Final

Worcester State: 2

Bridgewater State: 3

How it Happened:

The Lancers started off high on the pressure offensively scoring two quick goals by seniors Kae Coleman (Attleboro, MA) and Allison Keenan (Marlborough, MA). They stayed strong on defense to remain up 2-0 going into the second half.

Worcester fought hard in the second quarter but Bridgewater was able to take a 3-2 lead after finding the gaps in the pressure. They continued to look for attempts on offense including and recorded two penalty corners but were unable to find a tying goal before the half.

Worcester fought hard on defense to keep this game a one score difference, refocusing and buckling in to prevent any serious threat from the Bears. They continued to put forth a strong offense including two great shots they just came up short of making this score equal. Goalie sophomore Lizzy MacDonald (Medford, MA)  put up some key stops to keep this game close heading into the fourth quarter.

Worcester would continue to push and look for the chance for extra time but every attempt was stalled by the Bears. Bridgewater would be forced to knock aside the five attempts of the Lancers in their bid for a chance to hold on for the 3-2 victory.

MacDonald would finish the game with five saves on the night
