Worcester State Drops Road Contest at Salem State

Salem, MA --- The Vikings received 14 points from junior center Dylan Holmes, 13 points from senior guard Marquis Victor (Lawrence, MA) and 12 points from senior guard Ramon Cruz (Worcester, MA) en route to a 75-47 victory over the Worcester State College Lancers in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) played this afternoon at James Twohig Gymnasium.

SSC jumped out to a 39-22 halftime lead and never looked back. In addition to the double-digit scorers, the Vikings displayed a balanced attack with eight additional players making the scoresheet. Junior forward Ricky Ogboin (Boston, MA) and senior forwrd Jeremy Taitt (Boston, MA) added eight points each while freshman forward Nick Linear (Salem, MA) and sophomore guard Brian Marvie (Worcester, MA) added six and five points, respectively.

The Vikings (14-4 overall; 4-2 MASCAC) received five rebounds each from Holmes, Linear, Taitt, junior guard Stevie Celestin (Somerville) and senior forward Rawleigh Preaster (Randolph, MA). SSC forced the Lancers (9-10 overall; 2-4 MASCAC) into 21 turnovers and 17-for-42 (.308) shooting from the field. The Vikings als held a 45-38 advantage on the boards. Worcester's Will Spont led all scorers with 18.

SSC's next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 5 when the Vikings play Lesley University at 7:00 pm at Twohig Gymnasium.
