Lancers Drop Third Period Battle to Corsiars

Worcester, MA - It was a warm day in Worcester , Massachusetts but brisk in the rink at the Fidelity Bank Ice Center,  for tonight's men's ice hockey line up between the UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs and the Worcester State University Lancers.

In the first period it was an aggressive first period between the Lancers and the Corsairs as first year Brady Carpenter (Peabody, Mass.) was dealt with a two minute minor penalty for boarding. Even though there was a power play the Corsairs could not capitalize on the man up sitution, and that would be the end of the first period.

At the start of the second it was a neck and neck game with two penalties to the Corsairs, one of the penalties was a two minute minor penalty for slashing to Connor Little (Pourtsmith, R.I.) , and a penalty for a ten minute game misconduct dealt to assistant Coach Mike Sones and serving the penalty was Vincent Nicosia (West Bloomfield, Mich.) to end the period in what was turning into a tightly contested battle between the two conference opponents.

At the start of the third period and stepping onto the ice with a power play the Lancers unfortunately couldn't strike first but the Corsairs could grab an early goal as Colin Patterson (Rockledge, Fla.) would start the scoring with an assist from Hank McDonough (Doylestown, Pa.). The Corsairs would strike again with a goal by Kevin Johnston (Mahwah, N.J.) with an assist from Ethan Finlason (George Town , Cayman Islands). The Lancers would answer with a strike back of their own as a goal by sophomore Anders Gronstand (Royal Oak, Mich.) with an assist from senior Brendan Ronan (Saugus, Mass.).
